Beastway Series 2009
Beastway is back and Hog Hill will be the new home of this popular London based
grass roots mountain biking series this summer. The site has recently been seeded
so the first race has been delayed to 1 July to let the grass establish.
The format remains as before and the short course races will use sections of the
surfaced trails linked together with a variety of established woodland and newly
planted areas.
Dates
There will be 4 race nights, 1, 8, 15, 22, July and a team race and prize giving
on 29 July. If the weather remains dry expect fast dusty trails but this could change
very quickly if we have rain to leave a very sticky circuit.
Cats
Categories are for men and women: Juniors, Expert, Sport, Masters, Veterans, Under
14, Under 16 and Singlespeed. Racing starts at 7.30pm for 1 hour, (Youth A & B categories
start at 7.50pm)
Entry fees
£10 Senior, £7 concessions (UB40, OAP, Student, Junior), £5 Youth A & B.
The circuit will be built each week from 3pm. Anyone who can help us with this,
or can help us on the gardening days will get a free ride.
Venue:
The venue is the new purpose built Redbridge Cycle Centre, known also as Hog Hill,
and has full facilities including showers and lockers - www.redbridgecyclingcentre.co.uk

Why Beastway?
Beastway, so called because for 13 years it was held at the Eastway Cycle Circuit
and it was a bit of a beast. Beastway is organised by a group of people drawn from
the cycling community of London and the surrounds. A Structureless Tyranny acts
as a coordinating body and which in turn relies upon friends and cycle clubs to
make the series happen. After two seasons at Hainault Country Pk we now start a
new era at Hog Hill.
