July 09: Beastway Series 2009 - Race Night 3!

Beastway RainbowA heavy rain shower hit the race prior to the start and this turned the first lap into a mud fest, but as the race progressed the course settled down and we saw close, fast racing. Dan Oakley (Chelmer) had led on lap one but like a number of others he succumbed to the mud early on.

This week saw a Master and a Vet taking first and second place overall but the winner of the Expert Men was Paul Wilkinson. William Jones had a storming ride to win the Masters race and just behind him was Paul Hudson, winner of the Veteran category. Vet Winner

Graham Pentney took the singlespeed win whilst it was another win for Michael Butler in the Juniors. Peter Barton won the Grand vet race and Serge Hunt took the win in Sport.

Nicky Wughes won in Grand Vet Women from Abi Armstrong and the tightly contested Youth races finished with race A being won by Edward Moesli and race B by Sam Titmarsh.

July 09: Beastway Series 2009 - Race Night 2!

Alex Baker Despite some heavy rain and a sticky surface the second round of the Beastway series saw some fast racing and with another win for a Monkey, this time a younger one!

Alex Baker stepped up from Sport to Expert and took the win from Paul Wilkinson and Nat Jarvis. Alex is in fact a Youth rider, making it an even more remarkable result for the youngster!

July 09: Beastway Series 2009 - Race Night 1!

Beastway was back this week and with over 120 riders turning out at the newly developed Hog Hill the event was a success. The course was bumby and a bit sketchy in places as it beds in but the potential was obvious with many beliving it could even live up to its predecessor, Eastway!

There was some fast racing throughout the night as ever with a Beastway race and shouts of left and right echoed throughout the complex as riders hussled past each other to gain valuable places.

Paul Beales It was two Orange Monkey riders who were to fight it out for the win in the Expert category, one of which was a Junior! Paul Beales and Nat Jarvis had a good battle with Beales just edging Jarvis into second. In third place was Paul Wilkinson.

The Masters race was also hotly contested, Steve Hambling taking the win by just 4 seconds from Dan Oakley. Petr Vasek was third.

In the Sport Mens race another Orange Monkey was involved, this time it was Alex Baker who was just beaten to the win by Hugo Humphreys. Serge Hunt took the last podium spot.

There were wins for Dennis Dix in the Veteran Mens class, Martin Fisher in the Singlespeed and Michael Butler in the Juniors. Alan Wilson won the Grand Veteran category.

Abi Armstrong took the win in the Veteran Female competition while Youth A saw a win for Jake Hardy and Youth B for Joshua Parkin.
