July 09: British Mountain Bike National Championships
Report
The 2009 National Mountain Bike Championships saw the Downhill and Cross Country
disciplines set together on the same weekend for the first time in two years, as
always this raised some eyebrows amongst the hardcore cyclists that attend such
an event but with "quiet camping" away from the noisy downhillers it was sure to
be a successful event.
Downhill always gives a championship weekend the extra atmosphere it needs and this
was no different, the arena buzzing with mechanics, riders and spectators in a wet
and windy Scotland. <
The Downhill event was packed with stars as Gee Atherton (World Champion), and Steve
Peat (multiple world cup winner) took to the stage in front of a rowdy crowd of spectators on a course just
under 3 minutes long.
