June 09: New Team DH Bike Goes Well In Canada
Marin’s new downhill bike
– the Team DH – has had its first proper race outing at the Canada Cup at Tremblant
in Quebec and came away with two wins and a superb overall finish in the pro competition.
The machine, which has been developed by Marin’s Canadian riders and will be ridden
professionally by world champion Shaums March next year, is in the final stages
of testing.
It is a 220mm travel, alloy FRS bike which will be positioned above the existing
Quake model as Marin’s first true downhill machine.
It was ridden in these photos by the Canadian team and appeared in their bright
blue livery but will come to the UK in stylish black and white next year.
Development rider Andre Lecompte – the former Canadian national junior champion
- said: “The bike was a success from all angles. At first the guys though the head
angle was a little steep but after riding it they said it was very good.
“The reaction of the public and industry people was awesome - we never had this
much attention in a race weekend. The graphics and colors were well received. “
Canada is well known for having the gnarliest riding in the world and the course
at Tremblant was no exception.
The team got two wins and the guys only rode the bike one day prior to the race.
Pat Thomson – the pro racer - got a very good time and finished 28th with only six
practice runs on the bike.
